Kiran Abbavaram’s latest film, Dilruba, generated a lot of buzz before its release, thanks to an impressive trailer. The romantic drama had a unique backdrop and was expected to elevate Kiran Abbavaram’s career to the next level. The young actor himself was highly confident and spoke extensively about the film’s potential. Dilruba hit the screens on March 14, 2025, with high expectations.

Kiran Abbavaram Dilruba collection details

The makers were so confident in the film that they arranged paid premieres a day in advance. However, this strategy backfired as the film opened to negative word of mouth, which directly impacted its box office performance. On its first day, Dilruba managed to collect only ₹60 lakh, marking the lowest-ever opening for a Kiran Abbavaram film.

The situation worsened on day two, with collections dropping even further to ₹30 lakh. Shockingly, the film has failed to even cross ₹1 crore in the Telugu states, solidifying its status as a box office disaster. By the looks of it, Dilruba will be out of theaters by Monday.

The film marked the directorial debut of Viswa Karun and featured Rukshar Dhillon as the female lead. Rukshar made headlines ahead of the film’s release when she slammed the media for wrongly capturing her pictures during a promotional event.

Kiran Abbavaram plays a college student in Dilruba

In Dilruba, Kiran Abbavaram plays a college student who refuses to say "sorry" in life. The plot revolves around the consequences he faces when this stubborn attitude lands him in massive trouble with goons while also affecting his love life. Unfortunately, the film’s execution left much to be desired.

Not only did Dilruba fail in India, but it also struggled overseas, receiving a poor response in the U.S. With disappointing theatrical earnings, the film is unlikely to secure a strong OTT deal. Critics have slammed the film for its over-the-top narration, with many calling it one of the weakest films in Kiran Abbavaram’s career after the super success of KA. Stay tuned for updates on the OTT release date of Dilruba.
