Director Sandip Chowdhury passes away

He passed away on Tuesday at around 11 am at a city hospital

Director Sandip Chowdhury, son of veteran filmmaker Anjan Chowdhury, passed away on January 3. The Bengali film industry expressed condolences for this untimely demise. Sandip fell ill at a serial set a few days ago and was rushed to a private hospital. There he passed away on Tuesday at around 11 am.

According to the doctors, Sandip suffered cardiac arrest. There was an effort to implant a stent, However, due to other complications and unstable parameters, that was unsuccessful. His two sisters – Chumki Chowdhury and Rina Chowdhury – are in an inconsolable state.

Theatre worker and actor Sohan Bandyopadhyay took to his social media to announce Sandip’s demise. He wrote, “Babu (Sandip Chowdhury) passed away at 11 am at Ekbalpur Nursing Home. He was admitted after he suffered a cardiac arrest. There was an effort to implant a stent. However, it is because of the fluctuations of parameters, that was not successful.”

Sandip was known as Babu in the industry. He followed in his father’s footsteps and emerged as a director. He directed a number of popular mega-serials on television. Erao Shotru and Rangiye Diye Jao are some of his important works. He was working in Ferari Mon in Colors Bangla.

Sandip was the chairperson of the Directors’ Association of Eastern India. He ran superhit mega serials like Uran Tubri and Kanyadan. Anjan Chowdhury’s wife Jayashree Chowdhury passed away in August. Now one more tragedy struck the Chowdhury family.
