Eeshwarudu OTT release date: When and where to watch Silambarasan, Nidhhi Agerwal’s film

The film was written and directed by Suseenthiran and also starred Nandita Swetha, Bharathiraaja in key roles

Eeswaran was one of the first major Tamil films to have commenced shoot after the lockdown induced by the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The team shot the film amidst several restrictions in record time and managed to release it for Pongal 2021. Suseenthiran directed the film that starred Silambarasan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Nandita Swetha, Bharathiraaja in pivotal roles.

The rural entertainer met with a modest response on the ticket window and didn’t help itself owing to the clash with Vijay’s Master. The film was criticised for its dated plot and stereotypical execution. Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Kali Venkat, Manoj Harish Uthaman, Stunt Siva formed the supporting cast of the film bankrolled by Balaji Kapa under D Company Production, Madhav Media.

Due to the several constraints amidst which the film released, the makers couldn’t ensure a theatrical release simultaneously in Telugu. Now, the Telugu version titled Eeshwarudu has begun streaming on Amazon Prime Video earlier this month. The OTT giant has categorised the film under the pay-per-view model and is available for viewers to watch it at Rs 79.

The sons of a village patriarch Periyasamy plan to visit him along with their families. While the protagonist, who is his caretaker, takes care of the preparations for their arrival, he stands up for the family in the hour of need. S Thaman has scored the music for the film and Tirru is the cinematographer for the same. Anthony is editor of the 123-minute long film.

The Tamil version, Eeswaran, had begun streaming on Disney+ Hotstar right in mid 2021. Silambarasan a.k.a Simbu was last seen in Pathu Thala, the Tamil remake of the 2017 Kannada hit Mufti, directed by Obeli N Krishna. The Telugu version of the film is currently available to watch on Amazon Prime Video too. His film with Gautham Menon, Vendhu Thanindadhu Kaadu, was dubbed into Telugu as Life of Muthu.
