Director Senna Hegde’s previous movie Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam has already won his fans across the length and breadth of the State. His follow-up to the movie, 1744 White Alto, comes with its set of expectations and the filmmaker is well aware of it.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Senna talked about how he hopes the comedy film that is filled with suspense and satire would connect with the audience, especially at a time when movies of the genre such as Nna Thaan Case Kodu have gone on to become superhits.

“The biggest challenge for me, immediately after the release, is that people are going to compare it with Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam. So, they will expect something on that line because it’s coming from the same team. That’s something I want to clarify. This is a completely different movie,” he says.

1744 White Alto, which has Sharafudheen, Vincy Aloshius, Rajesh Madhavan, Anand Manmadhan and Navas Vallikunnu in pivotal roles, is also co-scripted by Senna and its cinematographer Sreeraj Ravindran.

On the difference between Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam and his latest venture, Senna says, “Thinkalazcha Nishchayam was rooted. It was simple, straightforward and in your face, when it came to its messaging. If you ask me, 1744 White Alto has a lot more than that but it’s not obvious. Whatever we are trying to say is very subliminal; it’s hiding between the layers.”

The filmmaker, however, explains that the team’s “primary and most important goal is that once people come out of the theatres, they should have a smile on their faces”. “The audience should say that it’s a film that made them laugh. That’s all we expect. But if they also decode it further, that will be the icing on the cake,” says the filmmaker, who is currently busy with the pre-production of Kunchacko Boban-starrer Padmini.
