Exclusive! Adhvithi Shetty’s next film is based on bike racing, has real-life racer Sandesh Prasannakumar in the lead

Adhvithi Shetty is excited about her new movie

Adhvithi Shetty rose to fame with her first outing, 2014’s Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari, which had Yash and Radhika Pandit in lead roles. The actress next featured Suli with her twin sister Ashvithi Shetty in 2016 (Ashvithi also starred in Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari), and has also done solo projects such as Kaarmoda Saridu, Girgitle. She is now awaiting the release of Sugar Factory, Iravan, Dheera Samrat, 1888, Brahma Kamala, Production no 2 and Mr Beggar. In the midst of all this, she has been juggling between Bengaluru and Mangaluru for the shoot of season 6 of the dance reality show Dance Mummy Dance, and is prepping for the shoot of her new film, which is yet to be titled.

Adhvithi spoke to us exclusively about her new project that she is excited about. “I play the female lead in a movie that is based on bike racing. The film is yet to be titled, and the muhurtha will be held next month. I play a positive, sweet girl who is crazy about bikes, and she meets a guy who is a bike racer. Although a big part of the story is about bike racing, there is a love story as well. What is interesting is that the team has picked a real-life professional bike racer, Sandesh Prasannakumar, to play the lead. Since the role involves a lot of bike stunts, the makers didn’t want to risk casting another actor,” says Adhvithi.

So, is Adhvithi like her character from the film? “Yes, I am crazy about bikes and cars in real-life as well. I never got a chance to ride a bike, since none of my friends own one, so when I was approached to do a cameo for a music video, which involved me riding a bike, I immediately agreed. Everyone was stunned when I learnt how to ride a Bullet in just 25 minutes. I think that it is because I am a fast learner and very interested in bikes. That was a while ago, and now I have lost touch. But I am sure I’ll ask Sandesh to teach me during the shoot of our film (laughs).”

The actress is also excited about Brahma Kamala, a woman-centric film in which she says she carries the entire story. “It is a beautiful story and sees me in two different looks — one of which I can’t reveal. All I can say about it is that even I was wondering how I would look, since it is me in a never-before-seen avatar. But when I watched myself during the dubbing, I felt that I had done a good job. I received a lot of appreciation from the director as well, so I am looking forward to the audience's reaction,” says Adhvithi.

Adhvithi and Ashvithi are still remembered as Suvarna and Kasturi from Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari. So, will we be seeing the twin sisters together onscreen again? “Ashvithi and I are waiting for good projects. A lot of people think that Ashvithi is not interested in acting because she took a break from acting, but that is not true and she now wants to get back to acting. Even after so many years, people keep asking us when we will be seen together again; they still know our names and dialogues from Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari. So, yes, we are eager to work together again and hopefully the right project will come our way,” sums up Adhvithi.
