Fahadh Faasil

It was previously reported that Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil would make his bona fide Kannada debut with Dr. Suri’s action drama Bagheera. The film was to extend his professional relationship with Hombale Films, with whom he recently worked on the Malayalam thriller Dhoomam. Bagheera stars Sriimurali in the lead who plays the role of a gritty police officer and Fahadh Faasil, too, as per the reports, was billed as a super cop who is associated with the CBI.

While the makers made no formal announcement regarding this, the same reports informed that he was to begin shooting for his part sometime in February. But the production of Bagheera was brought to a sudden halt around the same time when Sriimurali sustained a serious injury in his left knee and was forced to go on a 3-month break following surgery. When OTTplay spoke to a team member during this break, we were informed that there was no certainty about Fahadh Faasil joining the sets and that the concerned people were still addressing his availability.

And now, as team Bagheera hits the strides after Sriimurali’s medical break, we hear that Fahadh Faasil is no longer associated with the project. A source very close to the film informs OTTplay that the Malayalam star has had to opt out because of scheduling conflicts and that senior actor Prakash Raj has replaced him. While the latter does not seem to be the like-to-like replacement of a much younger Fahadh, one could expect the creative team to have made appropriate changes in the script for Prakash Raj to fit the bill.

The same source also tells us that Sriimurali is back on his feet and has even begun shooting for his part. “He is fully recovered and ready to go and the team has shot a few key sequences with him, after he rejoined the sets on May 15. Prakash Raj sir, too, was involved in those sequences. The full-fledged shooting, though, will begin in the month of June and is likely to go on for a couple of months. The team has completed only 50% of the shoot so far and considering the scale of the film, a lot of time will go into the production,” shares the source.
