Each character in the web series Four More Shots Please! has evolved with time. New characters have been introduced over the seasons, and the audience has got a chance to see every character from a new lens, as every season had a new director.

In conversation with OTTplay, two leads of the show, Sayani Gupta and Maanvi Gagroo, open up about working with three directors with very different work styles.

The first season of Four More Shots Please! released in 2019. It was directed by Anu Menon and written by Devika Bhagat. The second season released in 2020 and was directed by Nupur Asthana. The latest season is directed by Joyeeta. What is interesting to note is that all three seasons have had women directors and that the first two seasons were shot by a female cinematographer, Neha Parti Matiyani. The latest season was shot by Sanket Shah.

According to Maanvi, who plays Siddhi Patel on the show, every director not only brought something new to the table, but also kept all the actors on their toes.

She said, "I think it is a great opportunity for an actor to be on her toes, because it is only natural to feel stuck with a character and get too comfortable with it. But whenever there is a new director, it's a new energy and it feels like a new show. Since every director has a new style of working, we all start afresh!"

Sayani, who plays Damini Rizvi Roy, added, "I think it would be exhausting for one director to keep doing the show season after season. So, it's cool that we have a new director every season, though the show-runner and writers are the same. In a way, the material (story) finds new interpretation. I remember speaking to Nupur (Asthana, director) and she was exhausted after the second season! For me, it is interesting how every director extracts our performance for the same character differently."

Talking about how she vibed well with the director of the latest season, Joyeeta, Sayani added, "One day during a workshop, we were brainstorming on how to execute a specific moment and it was such a coincidence that Joyeeta and I uttered the same thing at the same time! We were totally in sync."

The show has come to an end as Maanvi posted on her Instagram handle with a caption that reads 'Apni kahaani da na end goriye…'
