Director Vysakh’s projects have also had expectations attached to it, primarily because he usually does big-budget films with superstars. While his latest film Night Drive, starring Anna Ben, Roshan Mathew and Indrajith Sukumaran, stands out for being made on a smaller scale , the filmmaker has several movies with superstars lined up to choose his next directorial.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Vysakh talks in length about his next movie after he completes the post-production of Mohanlal’s Monster, a thriller that is scripted by Udaykrishna.

Ahead of the pandemic, the filmmaker had announced several films including Mammootty’s New York, which was planned to be shot entirely in the USA, and Unni Mukundan’s action-entertainer Bruce Lee.

On the status of these projects, Vysakh tells us, “We had planned a lot of big projects including New York with Mammukka, another project with Lal sir, films with Nivin Pauly and Dileepettan. However, once the pandemic hit, all the plans changed. My priority right now is to complete the post production of Monster. After that we will be recharting these films based on the actors’ dates and when the production houses will be willing to invest in such projects.”

The filmmaker, however, adds that during the pandemic lockdowns, he along with the scriptwriters were able to complete the scripts of all these projects. “But we are only still figuring out which project will go on floors first,” says Vysakh.

Meanwhile, the director is thrilled about the two films he did complete shooting for during the pandemic – Night Drive and Monster. On Night Drive, which is set to hit theatres on March 11, the director says that though it’s made on a smaller scale , it does have all the entertaining elements that the family audience associate with his films.

Similarly, Monster too is an all-out entertainer , which is packed with twists – each giving way to another mode of entertainment that the audience will be able to enjoy in theatres as well as on OTTs, depending on where the producer chooses to release the movie.
