Director Jude Anthany Joseph had announced 2403 ft, his film based on the 2018 Kerala floods, back in 2019 and it caught the attention of Malayali audience for its content as well as its stellar cast that included the who’s who of Malayalam cinema.

While the movie was delayed due to the pandemic, OTTplay had exclusively learnt that the film will resume shooting in June. The movie was initially announced with Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Asif Ali, Jayasurya, Indrajith Sukumaran and Indrans as part of the cast. While Jayasurya has dropped out of the film to focus on Rojin Thomas’ 3D fantasy thriller Kathanar, a source from the production team tells us that the makers will be roping in several big stars as part of Jude’s next directorial after Sara’s.

“The movie’s cast has undergone a change and it will also have a new title,” says the source. “We will be roping in several leading stars from Malayalam and Tamil, and the casting will be confirmed in a week. The movie will also have four heroines.”

OTTplay has also learnt that Tovino, Kunchacko and Asif are still part of the cast of the film, which will go on floors in June. Tovino and Tanvi Ram had previously shot a few portions of the movie in 2019. The Minnal Murali actor was earlier roped into play a former soldier who had gone AWOL. It’s not clear whether these portions will be retained or the team will begin from scratch when they restart next month. Tovino was also one of the heroes of the floods, being extensively involved in the rescue and rehabilitation of those who were displaced during the disaster.

Cinematographer Jomon T John, editor Mahesh Narayanan and composer Shaan Rahman were attached to the film, which was scripted by John Manthrickal and Jude, back when it was announced in 2019 with the tagline – story of unexpected heroes.

The multi-starrer, which is produced by Anto Joseph and made on a big budget, is aiming at a theatrical release in January 2023, according to the source. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Jude talked about why the movie was delayed. “It’s a film that requires a lot of artistes and technicians to interact and that too in water,” he said.
