Exclusive: Vishwak Sen tells why he took a day's time to say yes to Ori Devuda amidst lockdown

In a promotional event, the actor said that it took him some convincing to say yes to the film, a remake of the Tamil hit Oh My Kadavule

Vishwak Sen, who began the year on a high with rave reviews for his performance in Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam, is quite hopeful of continuing his winning streak with Ori Devuda, the Telugu remake of Oh My Kadavule, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. Asha Bhat, Mithila Palkar, Venkatesh Kakumanu, Venkatesh, Rahul Ramakrishna and others play important roles in the film that releases on October 21. In an interaction with OTTplay.com, Vishwak tells us why he took time to sign Ori Devuda.

"In a regular situation, I take decisions instinctively and quite quickly. I generally don't delay such matters. However, during lockdown, while living amidst four walls and not going out for work, I was so confused and wasn't able to take instinctive decisions. There was chaos all over, every day was the same and you couldn't meet people. I got Ori Devuda at the same time. When the offer came my way, I asked for a day's time to arrive at a decision, which was quite unusual of me," he said.

"I didn't take that time owing to any inhibitions about the remake but just the space to think and said yes after a day. When my producer PVP heard my decision, he told me there was no need to have any doubts about the film. He was right," Vishwak added. Explaining why the film was titled Ori Devuda, he stated, "Here it's God who's giving a second chance to the character. Whenever we have a problem, we say Ori Devuda first, so, we went ahead with the title.

Hey Bhagwan was another title they considered for this film. "However, we opted against the idea because we thought it had more Hindi flavour. And my earlier film too was titled Paagal and I did a film with an English title called Hit. Ori Devuda was the best option we had," Vishwak shared. The core team of Ori Devuda and Oh My Kadavule remains the same - the director Ashwath Marimuthu, the cinematographer Vidhu Ayyanna and the composer Leon James.
