The teaser of Munawar Faruqui's upcoming web series First Copy is here, and it taps into the piracy culture. This, interestingly, comes at a time when Salman Khan's Sikandar is fighting against piracy. The Eid release has suffered at the Box Office, at least a percentage, because it was leaked hours before the movie released in theatres.

First Copy is about piracy of movies

Munawar Faruqui's web series First Copy is about the first copy of movies which release in theatres. His character is into selling the pirated version of the movie, through CDs. It is a huge market across India, or at least was, till the digital world took over.

Sikandar suffers owing to piracy

Salman Khan's latest movie, Sikandar was hit by piracy. The film was leaked on sites hours before it was to release in theatres. Many trade analysts are of the belief that piracy is what caused Sikandar to lose out on a lot of Box Office collection. It is, however, also to be noted that Sikandar did not earn as much in advance booking to begin with, and was promised barely Rs. 10 crore, according to early trends.

How are Salman Khan and Munawar Faruqui related?

Munawar Faruqui is actually the winner of Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 17. Salman had recognized Munawar as the winner of the show ever since the reality show commenced. Eventually, of course, Munawar was the one to pick up the trophy. One who constantly dealt with controversy on the show, Munawar, later got married and is finally making his OTT debut with First Copy.
