Ramenahalli Jagannatha’s third directorial comes as Ganesh celebrates 20 years in Kannada cinema. A romantic drama, the film will be the Golden Star’s 45th film

Golden Star Ganesh has not had a release since headlining one of 2024’s big Kannada hits, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi. The actor has a slew of films lined up, including with director Vikyath, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi maker Srinivas Raju, Bharjari director Chetan and Love in Mandya’s Arasu Anthare. Adding to this list is Ramenahalli Jagannatha, the director of films like Hondisi Bareyiri and Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige.

Jagannatha and Ganesh are set to collaborate on a romantic drama, the first look and title of which will be revealed on February 15, 2026 at 12.15 pm. The official announcement of the project came on Valentine’s Day, with a poster featuring Ganesh in an open elevator clutching a bouquet of red roses. Ganesh fans, of course, are thrilled by the collaboration stating that this is exactly what they’ve been waiting for.
Given Jagannatha’s more rooted and realistic approach to filmmaking and how he explores human relationships in his films, his project with Ganesh is expected to be very different for the actor. Every time there is a film announcement or release, audiences say they want to see vintage Ganesh, but when that is all on offer, they push for him to try something different. The film with Jagannatha is likely to balance audience expectations of a Ganesh film and the filmmaker’s sensibilities.
Jagannatha’s Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige was the first Kannada release of 2026 and received positive reviews. However, as was the case with Hondisi Bareyiri, he struggled to retain screens initially, but then managed to draw crowds for a few days eventually. The film did not have an OTT partner on board at the time of the release, but the latest buzz is that it will soon drop on Amazon Prime Video.
