In 2025, close to 240 Telugu films hit the screens, but only a few ended up as big hits at the box office. At the same time, biggies such as Game Changer, Kingdom, and Andhra King Taluka generated solid pre-release hype but sadly ended as massive flops. Here are the 11 biggest flops in Telugu cinema in 2025.

A Look at Telugu Cinema’s 11 biggest failures of 2025:

Game Changer

Game Changer was a Sankranthi 2025 release starring superstar Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. Directed by Shankar, the political drama was in the making for nearly three years and finally hit the screens on January 10, 2025. Although Ram Charan’s performance was widely appreciated, the film ended as a disaster and reportedly caused losses of nearly ₹50 crore to the makers.

Robinhood

Robinhood was Nithiin’s comeback film, and he pinned a lot of hopes on this big-budget project directed by Venky Kudumula. Sreeleela played the female lead in the film, which was made on a budget of ₹60 crore but earned only ₹14 crore in its final run. Nithiin now needs a hit at any cost, as his career is currently in the doldrums.

Jack

After the super success of Tillu Square, Siddhu Jonnalagadda teamed up with director Bommarillu Bhaskar, who himself was going through a rough phase in his career. Made on a budget of ₹40 crore, Jack managed to earn only ₹10 crore at the box office and ended as a disaster. More than the failure itself, Siddhu was heavily trolled for choosing such a weak subject after the success of Tillu Square.

Thammudu

Thammudu was backed by producer Dil Raju. Despite the failure of Game Changer in January, Dil Raju invested close to ₹75 crore in this action drama, which also marked the Telugu debut of Sapthami Gowda. The film, which featured Laya in a key role, earned only ₹9 crore at the box office. Thammudu became Nithiin’s second flop of 2025, and he is now in dire need of a hit.

Kingdom

Kingdom was promoted aggressively and was expected to be Vijay Deverakonda’s biggest hit to date. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film was made on a budget of ₹130 crore but earned just ₹80 crore. The action drama was originally planned as a two-part franchise, but after the first part failed, the second part was shelved. Vijay had pinned high hopes on this project, but things went wrong.

Telugu social dramas on OTTplay

Ghaati

Ghaati marked one of Anushka Shetty’s rare appearances in 2025. She played a powerful character of a drug peddler. While the story and technical aspects looked promising on paper, the execution by director Krish disappointed audiences. Even Anushka’s performance faced heavy criticism. Vikram Prabhu made his Telugu debut with this film.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu

Hari Hara Veera Mallu is Pawan Kalyan's biggest film, which was in the making for the last three years. Made on a budget of Rs 250 crore, the film managed only Rs 100 crore and ended as a huge flop. The VFX, story, and narrative were so bad that Pawan Kalyan himself distanced himself from the film.

Telusu Kada

Telusu Kada was Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s second release of 2025. The romantic drama, based on the sensitive subject of surrogacy, failed to impress audiences and ended as a major flop. Despite the makers claiming positive reception, the film earned only around ₹13 crore at the box office.

Mass Jathara

Mass Jathara marked Ravi Teja’s fourth consecutive flop in recent times. In the film, he played a railway police officer, with Sreeleela as the female lead. Directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu and made on a budget of ₹60 crore, the film earned only ₹20 crore, ending as a massive dud. Ravi Teja now needs a solid hit to regain momentum.

Andhra King Taluka

Andhra King Taluka generated strong pre-release buzz but failed to convert it into box-office success. Despite receiving decent reviews, the film underperformed commercially. With this film, Ram Pothineni added another flop to his career. Bhagyashri Borse played the female lead in the film, which was directed by Mahesh Babu P.

Akhanda 2

Last but not least, Akhanda 2 also ended as a flop. Despite collecting ₹104 crore at the box office, the film failed to break even, as it was made on a budget of ₹150 crore. Poor returns and high expectations resulted in the Balakrishna starrer exiting theatres quickly.

Apart from the films listed above, several other notable releases such as Mowgli, 12A Railway Colony, Mithra Mandali, and Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi also ended as major flops in 2025. All eyes are now on 2026, as a few big-ticket films are lined up for release.
