If James and even Lucky Man provided fans of the late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar several emotional moments, one can only imagine the effect that Gandhada Gudi will have. The docu-feature, which is releasing in theatres on October 28, is the late actor’s passion project. A deep dive into the forests, oceans, flora and fauna of Karnataka, Gandhada Gudi had Puneeth travel the length and breadth of the state with award-winning wildlife filmmaker Amoghavarsha.

This would be where everyone would truly get a glimpse of Puneeth, the adventure and wildlife loving person, and not Puneeth, Kannada cinema’s Power Star. As different as that is from all his other onscreen outings, Gandhada Gudi is also special because this will well and truly be the last film release of Puneeth. Never again will fans of the late Power Star have the opportunity of a FDFS. This is it. If James was not a film, but an emotion, what will Gandhada Gudi be then?

Well, we are about to figure that out as bookings for the film, which is about ‘Appu exploring Karnataka’s wildlife and natural beaty’, have opened and the paid premieres on October 27 evening sold out within minutes. Such is the desire of fans to see their beloved Power Star one last time on the big screen that the makers are apparently looking at increasing the number of shows. In Bengaluru, for instance, of the 27 shows that were opened for advance bookings, only 2-3 have available seats and those are also fast filling. Friday bookings are yet to open. The single show in Davanagere was sold out within 10 minutes and fans have been asking the makers for more. Also sold out are all 4 shows in Mysuru, 2 each in Belagavi and Hubballi and 3 in Mangaluru, among others.

Only days ago, at the pre-release event of Gandhada Gudi, Puneetha Parva, Rocking Star Yash had exhorted Appu fans to ensure that the film breaks all records, including those of KGF. If the speed at which the premiere shows sold out is any indication, Yash’s word will come true.

Meanwhile, ahead of the film’s release, wishes have already started pouring in for the team. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudevan, for instance, took to social media, writing, “My best wishes for the release of #GandhadaGudi. Puneeth will always be remembered with love & joy for his passionate involvement with Life around him. Wonderful to see his legacy live on with active support of all who were dear to him. Blessings. -Sg.”
