Dasara is among the most crucial festival seasons for the Telugu industry and is historically known to draw big crowds to theatres. Looks like the festive madness in Telugu cinema for 2022 has just begun. Nagarjuna's The Ghost, to release on October 5, was the first film to have booked the Dasara berth. While Vishnu Manchu too has hinted at the release of his Ginna for the same weekend, there's a new entrant to the list - Swathimuthyam, starring debutant Ganesh Bellamkonda and Varsha Bollamma.

For the uninitiated Swathimuthyam is a feel-good family entertainer produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments. The makers have announced that the film will hit theatres on October 5. Earlier, they had plans of releasing the film on August 13, but postponed it to avoid a clash with Karthikeya 2 and Macherla Niyojakavargam. Written and directed by Lakshman K Krishna, the film has music by Mahathi Swara Sagar.

'Expect a festive treat for Dasara,' reads the media statement of team Sawathimuthyam. The makers assure an entertaining new-age film with an ideal potpourri of romance, humour, family drama and pleasing music. The first glimpse and a song, Nee Chaaredu Kalle, have already been launched. Naresh, Rao Ramesh, Subbaraju, Vennela Kishore, Harshavardhan, Pammi Sai, Sapthagiri, Goparaju Ramana, Siva Narayana, Pragathi, Surekha Vani, Sunaina, Divya Sripada also play key roles in the film.

While #NBK107 and Godfather have also been planned as Dasara releases, there is no official confirmation from either teams about it. Telugu cinema breathed a new lease of life with the success of Sita Ramam and Bimbisara last week. The festive season with a flurry of releases should ideally bring back normalcy in the industry.
