Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer: Alia Bhatt takes full charge in fight against the political and social miscreants

The much-awaited trailer of Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi has finally dropped. The upcoming biographical film also stars Ajay Devgn in an extended cameo.

The official trailer video begins with the slogans of 'Gangubai Murdabaad'chanted by the public as the actress steps out in the middle of the crowd. Later, Alia takes up the stage and makes a heartwrenching speech. The montage further explores how she gets trained to become a sex worker from a young age.

Vijay Raaz's character is the most surprising element in the latest trailer as the actor can be seen portraying an antagonist role of a transgender sex worker. The actor can be seen locking horns with the lead actress.

Ajay Devgn also makes an appearance, which makes Alia's Gangubai mesmerised after getting a glimpse of his character Laala.

The Highway actress took the trailer video to her Instagram and shared it with a caption that reads, "GANGUBAI ZINDABAD Trailer out now. #GangubaiKathiawadi in cinemas on 25th Feb. (sic)."

The forthcoming film has been adapted from a part of S Hussain Zaidi's 2011 book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Loosely based on the life of a real-life sex worker, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial also features Jim Sarbh, Seems Pahwa and Vijay Raaz in significant roles.

The teaser of the highly-anticipated film was released last year and showcased Alia's latest avatar as Gangubai and her conviction towards the character. The few dialogues that impacted the audience quite a lot displayed the actress' sincerity towards her performance.

The film was earlier set to release on January 6, however, the third wave of the pandemic led to the closing of movie theatres across the country delayed the launch date of the movie.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is set to release in theatres on February 25.
