Garud: Producers Subhash Kale and Ajay Kapoor announce film based on Afghanistan crisis

Producers Subhash Kale and Ajay Kapoor announced a new project, Garud with a motion poster.

Touted as a patriotic film, Garud will present a fictionalised version of a rescue mission in Afghanistan led by the Indian Air Force unit, Garud Commando Force.

The motion poster, set to the film’s theme song ‘Mera Bharat Hai Mahaan’ opens to an airport in ruins, the runway spotted in flames with smoke billowing all over. Out of the smoky skies a plane slowly comes into view, as the film’s title appears along with the caption ‘The biggest rescue mission ever’.

Kapoor, who has collaborated with Kale on Roy and All is Well in a statement said that Garud is a “inspirational, patriotic story with a strong emotional connect.”

Kale said he had spent a long time developing the script, and hopes to give the story, inspired by real events, an international appeal.

Slated for a release on 15 August, 2022, Garud is written by Nidhi Singh Dharma, of Mission Mangal fame. Ravi Basrur has composed the film’s music.
