Gehraiyaan trailer: Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi's film gives a look into complexities of modern relationships

The official trailer of Deepika Padukone's highly-anticipated film Gehraiyaan was released today.

Directed by Shakun Batra, the relationship drama also features Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday in the lead along with Dhairya Karwa, Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur.

Padukone is Alisha, a 30-year-old who is working extra hard to make her life as smooth as possible while balancing a precarious relationship Karwa's character.

Panday plays her cousin Tia, with whom she once had a lot in common, but as they grew up, their lives saw many major changes. Tia belongs to a much affluent family and is dating Chaturvedi's Zain who seems to have benefited in status through this relationship.

Alisha and Zain eventually form an intense attachment after they bond over a troubled past and a common wish to break from its confines. As the trailer proceeds, it seems like Tia discovers that Zain is cheating on her.

A press release described Gehraiyaan as "a relationship drama that looks beneath the surface of complex modern relationships, adulting, letting go and taking control of ones’ life path."

"Alisha, my character in Gehraiyaan is extremely close to my heart and certainly one of the most challenging characters I have portrayed on screen," Padukone said in a statement. She also said that every character's struggle in the film is "real, raw and relatable."

Gehraiyaan is jointly produced by Viacom18 Studios, Dharma Productions and Shakun Batra’s Jouska Films. Amazon Prime Video India will premiere it on February 11.
