Srujan Lokesh’s directorial debut Ghosts in Trouble (GST) released in theatres on November 28, 2025, but failed to create waves at the box office, despite its horror comedy genre and the ensemble cast on board. Over three weeks that the film was tracked in theatres, it is said to have made Rs 1.12 cr only in net collections and yet, it is among the few Kannada films to make their way to OTT. Given Srujan’s long and continuing association with Colors Kannada, the expectation was for the network to pick the satellite and digital rights of GST, but one hears that it’s a split deal.

Ghosts in Trouble was based on a story that Srujan said came to him in a dream and followed his character Lucky, who, contrary to his name, is never favoured by fortune. Such is his streak of bad luck, that his father despises him, with his mother the only support system in his life. However, when she dies, presumably due to Lucky’s fault, he sees no point in his existence anymore and attempts to commit suicide. When all his attempts fail, he is greeted by a bunch of friendly ghosts, who seek his help to finish their unfinished business on earth and help them find salvation.

New Kannada comedies on OTTplay

As noble a cause that is, the problem is that Lucky’s new pals all have major monetary troubles and that’s not something he can help them with. Unless, of course, they lay siege on a bank. Can they pull off a heist, though?
