Actor Sarah Snook took her first Golden Globe Awards home. She had won for her performance in the series Succession. She was one of the nominees among Jennifer Coolidge for White Lotus, Andie MacDowell for Maid and Hannah Waddingham for Ted Lasso. The nominations were announced on December 13, 2021. Sarah's co-star Jeremy Strong who plays the role of Kendall in the show has also won an award this year.

Succession is created by Jesse Armstrong which follows the family who argues and fights to take over the company after the media conglomerate's patriarch takes ill. The show, which is available to stream on Disney+Hotstar in India, had won the Golden Globe Award for the Best drama in 2020. Logan Roy who plays the role of the family patriarch also won an award for his performance in the show the same year.

Meanwhile, O Yeong Su becomes the first Korean to win an award for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes 2022. The actor received the award for one of the popular Netflix shows Squid Game. The 77-year-old actor played the role of Oh II-nam in the Korean survival drama, also starring Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, HoYeon Jung, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, and Kim Joo-ryoung. The other nominees in the supporting actor category included Billy Crudup for The Morning Show; Kieran Culkin for Succession; Mark Duplass for The Morning Show; and Brett Goldstein for Ted Lasso.

The Golden Globe Awards, which is considered Hollywood's biggest award party, has been scaled down this year. There was no red carpet and live broadcast this year. The organisers are accused of racism, sexism, bullying and corruption. The event was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Calif. The spike in the cases of COVID-19 cases was cited as the reason for conducting the private event. The names of the winners were announced on social media.
