Goodachari 2: Will a sequel again work in Telugu cinema, much like Karthikeya 2?

A pre-vision video of the sequel to Adivi Sesh’s crime thriller Goodachari was launched earlier today

Nikhil, Anupama Parameswaran starrer Karthikeya 2, directed by Chandoo Mondeti, shattered the myth that sequels to popular Telugu films, won’t work with audiences. The film, which is more a thematic sequel to the first part, was bigger in scale with better thrills and a vastly engaging screenplay, that took the entire nation by storm. Another sequel to a hit film was announced earlier today.

Work on Adivi Sesh’s spy thriller Goodachari is all set to commence in early 2023. While the actor-writer will headline the sequel too, it will be helmed by a first-time filmmaker Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi. The latter has also been an integral part of the direction team for Goodachari and has edited another Adivi Sesh film Major. A brief video, confirming the sequel, was unveiled today.

Goodachari, the first part, was directed by Sashikiran Tikka and introduced Telugu audiences to Sobhita Dhulipala and also starred Prakash Raj, Surpiya Yarlagadda, Vennela Kishore and Jagapathi Babu. The film was a career-defining success that changed the trajectory of Adivi Sesh’s filmography and the actor has never looked back ever since, with hits like Evaru, Major and Hit 2 in his kitty.

Goodachari 2 is likely to be made in Telugu and Hindi simultaneously, owing to Adivi Sesh’s growing popularity across the country. The actor is certainly in the form of his life but it’ll still be an immense challenge to live up to the hype around Goodachari 2, given the success of the first part. TG Vishwa Prasad, Abhishek Agarwal produce the film under People Media Factory, Abhishek Agarwal Arts in collaboration with AK Entertainments India Pvt Ltd.
