Srinagara Kitty is looking forward to February 24 with mixed emotions – on the one hand he is excited about his film Gowli that will be in theatres and the hard work that has gone into presenting the story, but on the other, he is also a tad nervous about how audiences will react to it. “It’s a normal reaction to be nervous about the release, but with Gowli, there is a certain confidence that comes from the fact that everything that we have released to the public so far, whether it is the teaser or the songs, it has all been received well and the response has been phenomenal. The entire team is now eagerly looking forward to the film’s theatrical release,” said Kitty at a press briefing earlier today.

Gowli, according to the actor, is a film and role that’s very different from everything else he’s done so far in his professional life. “This is a character that I have given my all, if not more, so there is a certain excitement that comes with the upcoming release, as audiences will now get to see this effort. I believe that this is a film that will appeal to all. The story of Gowli is set in Sirsi, where we shot for about 63-64 days. The director, Soora, is from Sirsi and the story is based on certain true incidents and real people that he’s come across. It’s all been woven together, with certain cinematic liberties, to present one cohesive narrative, about this man, and the people around him, exploring his relationship with his daughter, wife and uncle, among others,” explains Kitty.

The actor explains that when he first heard the story of Gowli, it piqued his interest because it would give him a meaty role with enough to chew on. “When the producer Raghu Singham came to me, I was shooting for a role in Prajwal Devaraj’s Veeram, and I had a bit of a beard then. The first thing he told me is that he wanted me to grow it out for at least another four months. It’s taken us three and a half years to complete the film, including all the pandemic lockdown delays, and the detailed work that went into Gowli’s making and we are finally ready to present it to audiences,” says Kitty, adding that this is the first time that he’s maintained the Uttara Karnataka slang for the entire duration of a film.
