Shane Nigam's Haal is the most recent Malayalam film to encounter censorship concerns. The Censor Board's directive to restrict the use of specific words has caused the film, which was originally scheduled to premiere in theatres in September, to be postponed once more.

To the dismay of the filmmakers, the movie's theatrical debut has been repeatedly delayed; the most recent orders from the Censor Board are the reason for this. They have instructed the producers to remove the usage of terms like "beef biryani," "rakhi," and "dwajapranamam." Veeraa, the director of Haal, has, nevertheless, sought a resolution from the Kerala High Court.
The Censor Board had recently suggested changing the title of the Pravin Narayanan-directed movie Janaki V v/s State of Kerala from Janaki to Janaki V because the protagonist, a sexual assault survivor, "could not be named after a Hindu goddess." For this reason, the movie's release was delayed by over a month. This was severely opposed by Pravin and several other Malayalam directors. ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium are currently streaming the courtroom drama, which stars Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles.
