Head Bush box office collection: Gangster drama makes small but hopeful strides
Dhananjaya as MP Jayaraj in Head Bush

Head Bush released in theatres on October 21 amid a lot of hype. With Daali Dhananjaya headlining the film and essaying the role of the real-life gangster MP Jayaraj, fans had been keenly looking forward to the gangster drama and how the on-screen adaptation would traverse a vibrant period of Bengaluru's history. However, the film opened in theatres to slightly underwhelming responses from both critics and the audiences with many praising Dhananjaya for his charisma but highlighting the mediocre visual portrayal of writer Agni Sreedhar's world.

And it would seem that Head Bush's box office performance is reflecting the same feedback as the film struggles to find its bearings. Having collected Rs. 1.25 crores (reportedly) on the opening day (October 21), Head Bush has gone to earn approximately Rs. 0.93 crores (net) on Day #2 with the third day of the theatrical run expected to fetch similar results. With these estimates, Head Bush is currently looking at Rs. 3.2 crores opening weekend in terms of net value. The gross figures are yet to be divulged.

Intended as a two-volume saga, the first instalment of Head Bush is titled 'The Rise and Rise of Bengaluru' and chronicles the events that lead to Jayaraj becoming Bengaluru's first bona fide gangster. The second volume of Head Bush is yet to be conceived by the makers.

With Kantara still going great guns at the box office and collecting Rs. 4.85 crores (net) with the Kannada version alone (scoring almost Rs. 10 crores on Saturday across the country!), Head Bush has a mighty task ahead. The film also has Gandhada Gudi to reckon with which releases in theatres on October 28.

Produced by Dhananjaya under the banner of Daali Pictures in association with Somanna Talkies, Head Bush has been reportedly released across 493 screens with a total of 1127 shows. The film, directed by Shoonya, also stars Payal Rajput, Yogesh, Raghu Mukherjee, Sruthi Hariharan, Balu Nagendra, Devaraj, and others.
