The much-awaited Diwali releases, Karthi's Sardar and Sivakarthikeyan's Prince, are finally out. Though intermittent rains have been lashing Tamil Nadu, fans of both the actors ensured that they turned up in theatres to watch the FDFS of the films of their respective matinee idols.  Karthi watched the FDFS of Sardar at Kasi Theatre in Chennai. In the meantime, Sivakarthikeyan watched the film along with his wife Aarti at yet another theatre in Chennai. He too received a warm welcome from his fans and his  fans danced like there was no tomorrow when the song Jessica and Bimpilikki Bilappi came on screen. It was a surreal moment for the fans as they got the opportunity to watch the film with their fans.

Karthi's Sardar is a spy thriller, helmed by PS Mithran, and Karthi appears in a dual role in the film. While one character is that of a publicity-seeking police officer Vijayprakash, the other one is that of a spy named Sardar. The rest of the star cast comprises Chunky Panday, Laila, Raashi Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Yuhi Sethu to name a few. The plot revolves around a spy's unfinished mission. GV Prakash has scored the music.

On the other hand, Sivakarthikeyan's Prince is a romantic comedy that also stars Sathyaraj, Maria Ryaboshakpa, Premgi Amaren and Anandharaj. The film has music by Thaman and revolves around a teacher who falls in love with a foreigner. It opened to negative reviews at the box office with feedback that the comedy falls flat. Meanwhile, Sardar has opened to positive reviews and Karthi's performance is being appreciated by one and all.
