Horror flick The Vigil gets OTT release in India

Keith Thomas' directorial debut The Vigil hit the big screens in the US earlier this year after nearly a two-year-long wait. Now, the film has opted for an OTT release in India and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. The horror flick stars Dave Davis, Menashe Lustig and Malky Goldman in the lead roles. The premise of The Vigil is set in a unique world: The Hasidic community of 'Boro' Park in Brooklyn.

Amazon Prime Video, the streaming platform, has described the plot of the film as - 'A man providing overnight watch to a deceased member of his former Orthodox Jewish community finds himself opposite a malevolent entity.'

Before its big-screen release, The Vigil was premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.

Produced by Blumhouse Productions, PictureWorks acquired the rights of the supernatural horror flick for a digital release in India. A spokesperson at PictureWorks said in a statement, "We at PictureWorks thrive to bring forth first-class films to Indian audiences. From start to end, The Vigil gives its viewers a fresh and interesting perspective."

Talking about the cast, Dave Davis has been a part of several popular films and TV shows namely The Big Short (2015), Logan (2017), Greyhound (2020), The Walking Dead (2012), True Detective (2014), NCIS: New Orleans (2016), Lucifer (2019) to name a few.
