I Want You Back trailer: Charlie Day, Jenny Slate team up and hatch a plan in Amazon rom-com

The film revolves around the story of a man and woman who go to desperate lengths to win back their respective ex-partners

Comedic heavyweights Charlie Day and Jenny Slate are joining forces for a new romantic comedy, called I Want You Back. The trailer for the same, unveiled recently, shows the duo teaming up with a nefarious purpose in mind.

The trailer, released on the official social media handles of Amazon Prime Video opens with the saddest of meet cutes- Slate gets recently broken up with and starts sobbing her heart out. Her rambunctious crying is overheard by Day, who finds himself in a similar situation after being dumped by his girlfriend.

The two bond over their mutual dejection and become close, relaying to each other their fear of losing their last shot at happiness and supporting each other through their losses. And to make matters worse, their partners soon move on quicker than expected. The duo hatch a plan to win back their exes, enlisting each other’s help in doing so, leading to a chaotic and hilarious chain of events where they strike up friendship with each others partners.

The romantic comedy film is directed by Jason Orley and written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. The latter two are known for their work on Love,Simon and This Is Us. In addition to Slate and Day, the film also features Gina Rodriguez, Scott Eastwood, Manny Jacinto, Mason Gooding, Clark Backo, Jami Gertz, Jordan Carlos and Midori Francis. Day also serves as an executive producer on the film.The upcoming film is bankrolled under the banners of The Safran Company and The Walk-Up Company.

I Want You Back will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 11, 2022.
