Idli Kadai, the 2025 Tamil film starring actor Dhanush in the lead role, makes a solid lead at the box office and begins with Rs 10 crore on day one. However, the real test for Idli Kadai only begins from Thursday, given the Kannada film Kantara: Chapter 1 joins the race.

Idli Kadai is a Tamil drama film written and directed by Dhanush who also acted in the lead role. The film released in theatres on Wednesday (October 1), and as per Sacnilk report, it has made Rs 10 crore on day one. However, Idli Kadai will still face competition from the Kantara sequel, Kantara: Chapter 1, which began its innings with paid premieres on Wednesday evening. With the long weekend just begun, the next couple of days are crucial for Idli Kadai to begin on a strong note and maintain its momentum.

Idli Kadai must beat Dhanush’s another film, Kuberaa, and for that, the film must enter the 100-crore club. But only time will tell if Dhanush's film can withstand the momentum of Kantara and rule the box office. With the film getting middling reception from critics, Idli Kadai still stands a chance among the B and C centre audience who perhaps can connect to the rural setting of the film.
