Accompanying her new husband Gregg (Callum McGowan), their boat captain Daemon, and a small group of other divers on a diving adventure in Thailand in search of sunken treasure forces her to face her phobias.

When a band of aggressive modern-day pirates, led by the psychopathic Jordan (Jon Seda), kidnaps their ship, the journey swiftly becomes dangerous. To recover a missing drug shipment, the thieves drag the tourists into shark-infested seas. While the divers must confront the brutal pirates, they also have to deal with the perilous underwater world and the continual danger of great white sharks.

Richard Dreyfuss' role and conservation message

Richard Dreyfuss, who was in the original Jaws film, plays the character of Seamus, Cassidy's grandfather and a marine scientist, in the film. During a sequence of flashbacks, his character helps a young Cassidy overcome her fear of the ocean. During the closing credits, Dreyfuss addresses the predatory portrayal of sharks in a speech he gives about shark conservation.
