Soon after the release of Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, starring Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday, a part of social media started claiming that the movie is a remake of the Korean film, A Moment to Remember. They mentioned that a lot of scenes are similar to the Korean film.
As the film gains popularity, many online users are drawing comparisons between Saiyaara and the 2004 South Korean romantic drama A Moment to Remember, directed by John H. Lee. The Korean film centers on the lives of a couple who live after their wife is diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease, which resonates with Saiyaara's core conflict as Vani suffers from the disease.
However, upon closer examination, key differences become clear. Saiyaara creates a unique arc around the main characters Krish and Vani, especially in the first half. The Indian film delves into contemporary urban experiences and aspirations, particularly through Krish's journey as an aspiring musician, while in contrast, the first half of the Korean drama follows a completely different path with workplace dynamics and family tensions, elements of which are largely absent in Saiyaara. So we cannot say Saiyaara is a copy of A Moment to Remember.
Speaking about A Moment to Remember, it stars Jung Woo-sung and Son Ye-jin in the lead roles. The film is available for streaming on Netflix.
After the theatrical run ends, the YRF film, Saiyaara, will be available for streaming on Netflix. Currently, the film is ruling the box office charts gathering all the love from fans and critics.
