James box office collection day 5: Puneeth Rajkumar’s swan song flies past Rs 100 crore mark worldwide

There was never any doubt about the success that awaited Puneeth Rajkumar’s final commercial movie, considering the emotional public sentiment the movie carried. James is still going strong in the box office on its fifth day and has crossed a big milestone.

According to trade reporter Manobala Vijayabalan, the action entertainer has crossed the Rs 100 crore gross worldwide and achieved the record of highest single day footfalls for any movie in 88 years of Kannada Film Industry.

The movie was released on March 17, and crossed the milestone mark in just a matter of five days. The movie grossed a whopping Rs 23.60 crore on its first day. This means that James has also gone past Yash’s KGF for the biggest first day collection for a Kannada movie.

Directed by Chethan Kumar, the movie is backed by Kishore Productions, and stars Priya Anand as the female lead. The movie also received favourable reviews following its release.

"Ultimately, it is the emotion surrounding James that counts. This is one of the actor’s most massed outings, which his fans will love and cherish for a long time to come. This is also a film that does not require any reviews for its fans to head to the theatre,” reads OTTPlay's review of the movie.

Reports suggest that the movie’s streaming rights are claimed by SonyLIV for a massive Rs 40 crore, which outbid Amazon Prime Video. The movie is currently available in theatres across the country.
