Here’s a look at what’s releasing this week across languages, on streaming.

A few films and shows will be available on streaming services during the second week of September, including a supernatural thriller and a show about the Vyapam scam. Here is a list of the new content that will be available this week on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+Hotstar, and other platforms.

Jogi (Netflix)

Ali Abbas Zafar is the director of the Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Jogi, which is based on the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. Kumud Mishra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Hiten Tejwani, and Amyra Dastur are also included in this one.

Anti-Sikh riots broke out in 1984 as a result of Operation Blue Star, an Indian military operation that took place between June 1 and June 8 of that year to drive separatist leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his supporters from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh during the operation.

At a recent event, talking about the film, Diljit said, “Jogi holds a special place in my heart and I say it with pride that this has been told on a global platform... this is my first film on Netflix and the subject is very important to me as you will see in the trailer.”

Heartbreak High (Netflix)

While the name may sound new to some, the upcoming Netflix adaptation is a reboot of the 1994 Australian show of the same name Created by Michael Jenkins and Ben Gannon, the original series ran for seven seasons, gaining ample popularity and critical acclaim.

The 2022 reboot of Heartbreak High is helmed by Hannah Carroll Chapman. Eight episodes will be aired in the first season of the show, all of them directed by four separate directors, Gracie Otto (4 episodes), Adam Murfet (2 episodes), Jessie Oldfield (2 episodes), and Neil Sharma (2 episodes). The synopsis for the new series reads: "Amerie, along with her new friends Quinni and Darren, must navigate love, sex and heartbreak at Hartley High."

Goodnight Mommy (Amazon Prime)

Helmed by Take Me To The River director Matt Sobel, Kyle Warren penned the script for the film, which is produced by David Kaplan, Joshua Astrachan, Valery Guibal and Nicolas Brigaud-Robert. The original movie attained the status of a cult classic when it was released in 2014. It was later selected as the Austrian entry for best foreign language film at the Academy Awards.

Starring Susanne Wuest in the lead, the story follows twin brothers who, when sent to stay with their mother, are surprised to find her swathed in bandages from a recent procedure. As her behaviour grows increasingly erratic and unusual, the twins become convinced she is an imposter. Their suspicion sets off a roller-coaster of emotional mind games and misunderstandings between the mother and her children that eventually explodes with irreparable and heartbreaking consequences.

Andor (Disney+Hotstar)

The Andor series will examine the Star Wars universe from a fresh angle, concentrating on Cassian Andor's quest to understand the difference he can make. The television show tells the story of the escalating rebellion against the Empire and how individuals and worlds got involved. In this period of danger, deceit, and intrigue, Cassian will start down the path that will eventually make him a rebel hero.

Belashuru (Hoichoi)

The Bengali family drama Belashuru is produced and directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee. An elderly woman with Alzheimer's disease and her husband are central to the story.

Ramarao On Duty (SonyLIV)

On September 15, the movie starring Ravi Teja, which hit theatres on July 29, will be streamed. The movie will be made available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

The female leads in the action thriller are Divyansha Kaushik and Rajisha Vijayan. Rajisha makes her Telugu cinema debut with Ramarao On Duty. It is under Sarath Mandava's direction. The role of a Mandal Revenue Officer played by Ravi Teja in the movie was based on actual Andhra Pradesh incidents (MRO).

Ramarao On Duty is produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under SLV Cinemas LLP and RT Teamworks banners.

Shiksha Mandal (MX Player)

One of India's largest medical entrance exam frauds is the subject of the crime drama series. Starring in it are Pawan Malhotra, Gauhar Khan, and Gulshan Devaih.

College Romance 3 (SonyLIV)

The show details the various relationships that college students have and what it takes to keep them going. Gagan Arora, Apoorva Arora, Keshav Sadhna, Shreya Mehta, Nupur Nagpal, Jahnvi Rawat, and Eklavey Kashyap star in this The Viral Fever production.

Dahan (Disney+ Hotstar)

The nine-episode horror series, helmed by Vikranth Pawar, also stars Saurabh Shukla. The actor said that Dahan as a show meticulously brings together a tale of myths, legends and superstitions.

“Playing Pramukh puts me in the eye of the strong beliefs surrounding the village and its residents. One element that makes this character stand out is that he fears what he worships, but is too scared to break the chain,” Shukla added.

Director Vikranth Pawar added that they set out to create a show where the audience experiences how mythical and supernatural elements can come together to create fear in people’s minds.

Dahan is written by Nisarg Mehta, Shiva Bajpai and Nikhil Nair and bankrolled by Banijay Asia, Deepak Dhar, and Rishi Negi.

Mija (Disney+Hotstar)

Doris Muoz and Jacks Haupt, two Mexican immigrant daughters navigating careers in the music industry, are featured in the film Mija. It is a heartfelt letter of love to immigrant families and their kids.

Timepass (Zee5)

The Marathi film is a romantic dramedy directed by Ravi Jadhav.

Devlok with Devdutt Pattanaik S3 (Discovery+)

The show, directed by renowned author and mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik, features several fascinating talks and interpretations between Pattanaik and the host, actress Rasika Duggal.
