2025 was the year when an anime like My Hero Academia came to an end, but it was mainly the year when many people went back and revised the stories to catch up with the otakus.

Back in 2020, when COVID-19 lockdown and OTT boom happened, Korea became a huge sensation thanks to two big reasons - BTS and Korean dramas. The sudden boom turned K-Dramas mainstream. Five years later, 2025 happened to be the year when the focus shifted to Japan, best known for its anime. India and the West played a huge part in doing so, and it happened with revisiting some of the classic/G.O.A.T. anime series, if a report by The Esquire is anything to go by. This was not just limited to Naruto or One Piece, but many other series were revisited for various reasons.

Demon Slayer craze was at peak in 2025. The Infinity Castle, especially, was the peak moment for many. Since Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie Part 1 - Akaza's Return was announced, everyone started revisiting the moment to when Muzan opens up the Infinity Castle to test the Demon Slayers. For the uninitiated, Demon Slayer has four seasons in total, with Hashira Training Arc being the latest to release. The movie took off from the moment when Muzan opened up the portal. Hashira Training Arc is expected to be the last season ever, but the makers have left some hints that the series could make a comeback, but there's no official statement on the same so far.
Solo Leveling season 2
Solo Leveling season 2 commenced in 2024 and the craze continued till the beginning of 2025. The only anime on the list adapted from manhwa and not manga, Solo Leveling season 2 became a sensation upon its release. Naturally, people revisited the first season as well to understand where the story of Sung Jin-woo actually began.
Attack on Titan
Another long-running anime, Attack on Titan, was revisited mainly because of its disappointing ending that became the buzz on the internet as soon as 2025 commenced. Out of curiousity, many started streaming the anime. Those who wait for entire series drops, especially, started streaming the four seasons in 2023 and continued doing so till date.
One Piece
One Piece remains among the three most loved anime of all-time. The series had come to a halt and was revived in 2025 for the Egghead Arc. This boosted the viewership of the anime this year. Unfortunately, the series is about to take a temporary break once again, all in 2025.
My Hero Academia came to an end in 2025. It is truly the end of an era with a new hero rising but not alone. Izuku Midoriya's journey, along with his friends at UA high school, wraps up in the most heartwarming and MHA way as possible.
Death Note
It has been a long time since Death Note ended, but the anime continues to trend till date for various reasons. Whether it be Light's brilliant mind being twisted after the events he underwent or L almost cracking the most important case of his life, Death Note is a series that continues to shine because of its brilliant storytelling in most parts.
Frieren
An underrated series, Frieren, amazed the viewers and emerged as the dark horse. Originally released in 2023, the series is being revisited ahead of its expected release on January 16, 2026. The anime looks at what happens beyond the 'happily ever after.' The series is also one-of-a-kind, for it leaves subtle hints of LGBTQIA+ inclusion through the various characters.
Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden
Needless to say, Naruto is the G.O.A.T. when it comes to anime. A list released by Netflix in 2025 reveals that Naruto was the most streamed anime on their platform globally. The entire series, consisting of Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, has nearly 720 episodes in total. This goes on to prove the demand that the anime holds even after nearly two decades. Naruto ended and paved the way for the next generation, Boruto (ongoing).
Q. Which is better, Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen?
A. Demon Slayer is the story of a human-turned-demon terrorizing and killing other humans for his benefit. The Demon Slayers are out to get him and they are at the final stage of capturing him. Jujutsu Kaisen, on the other hand, is about a demon possessed in a naive human body. This brings about different challenges. Thus, one can decide based on their preference which story they find better.
Q. Is Frieren worth watching?
A. A resounding yes! Frieren is a highly underrated series which is finally being noticed in 2025. The anime is renewed for a new season and is expected to release in 2026. So, if you are looking for a human story which is modern in its approach, Frieren is a highly recommended watch.
Q. Is Naruto or One Piece better?
A. Ah, an age-old question! Naruto and One Piece have their own fandom because they are both classic tales told over time. Naruto is the story of a lonely boy who was shunned by the society over various misunderstandings. Deemed as a failure, the story is about his rise to heroism with his core values. One Piece, on the other hand, is about celebrating life through turbulances on a daily basis, along with a reliable team. Both the stories connect with fans on a root level and are much recommended for the very reason. This makes it tough to choose which is better, but you can be the judge of that.
