Junior ending explained: Junior, the debut vehicle of Kireeti Reddy, has him as Abhi, a youngster intent on making every moment a memory

Abhi (Kireeti Reddy) is the only son of Kodandapaani (V Ravichandran), who had the lad a little late in life. Kodanda’s wife, Shyamala had died in childbirth, which turned him into a helicopter parent, hovering around Abhi’s every movement. As he grows up, Abhi begins to feel it increasingly restricting and does his best to distance himself from his father. Instead, he focuses on making the most of life during his college years and devotes all his time to making memories, falling in love and so on and so forth.

After college, Abhi ends up interning at a major IT firm, run by the hot-headed Vijaya Soujanya (Genelia Deshmukh) and right from the get-go the duo is at loggerheads. Incensed by what she considers insolent behaviour on his part, Vijaya banishes Abhi to a remote corner of the office, where he’s put in charge of digitizing records of their CSR activities. In doing so, Abhi spots discrepancies, which he brings to her notice and while she isn’t initially pleased at hearing about a scam from an intern, she thaws eventually and heads out to the village the firm was supposed to be working with.
Turns out, Vijaya has a connection to the village, a memory that she’s been trying to bury and distance herself from. She is Abhi’s sister, a connection that he knows but she remains unaware of. Years ago, Kodandapaani and Shyamala had to cut ties with Vijaya and have her adopted by a close family friend, who could afford to give the young girl the treatment she needed for a debilitating lung condition.

Abhi then makes it his mission to reconcile Vijaya with Kodandapaani, but tragedy strikes when the latter is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and after a particular incident that lands him in hospital, he wakes up remembering Vijaya, but not Abhi. The irony was that for someone who was all about making memories, he ceased to be one for the person he most cherished.
