Challenging Star Darshan's fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of Kaatera, his next big project directed by Tharun Kishore Sudhir. Darshan will be seen in yet another 'massy' action avatar in the film that is set in the 1970s against a village backdrop. Fans are also excited about the fact that their beloved DBoss will be seen in a rather rustic, unconventional role in Kaatera and joining him in the cause is debutant Radhana Ram. Radhana, as many would already know, is the daughter of late film producer and '90s superstar Malashree Ramu.

Tharun Kishore Sudhir had recently announced that another popular yesteryear actor would play a key role in his film, whose look would be unveiled on May 17 at 10 am. And just as promised, Tharun has returned with the surprise, revealing that the popular '90s star Kumar Govind will play the role of Mahadevanna in Kaatera. And the update, turns out, comes on the actor's birthday who turns 50 on May 17.

"Welcoming the compassionate, brotherly soul 'Mahadevanna' donned by the talented #KumarGovind sir on this special day, his birthday! Team #KAATERA wishes him the best of success & health," wrote Tharun Sudhir on behalf of the entire team of Kaatera.

By all means, Kaatera would be Kumar Govind's comeback film considering that he was last seen in the 2016 film Mooka Nayaka. Having made his debut in 1993 (with a bang) with Upendra's cult classic Shhh, Kumar Govind was among the top leading men of the '90s along with Shiva Rajkumar, Ramesh Aravind, Shashikumar and others. His 1995 film Anuraga Sangama, which also starred Ramesh Aravind and Sudharani, is considered to be one of his best performances.

Kumar Govind turned director in 2010 with Sathya (he also stars in the film) and directed his second feature Master Mind in 2015.

As far as his role in Kaatera is concerned, the new poster suggests that he plays a drama artist, though one awaits an official confirmation on the same. The huge hoarding/cutout in the background of the poster has Kumar Govind's Mahadevanna donning a mythological avatar which does hint at his profession.
