Jayathirtha Jayanna's retro action-romance film 'Kaiva' is all set to arrive in cinemas. The makers took to social media a short while ago to announce that the film will be released in theatres on December 8th, 2023.

Kaiva, of course, stars Dhanveerah and Megha Shetty in the lead with the cast also including Jayaram Karthik, Nanda Gopal, Ugramm Manju, Yash Shetty, Raghu Shivamogga and also well-known Kannada film directors such as Ramesh Indira, Dinakar Thoogudeepa and others.

Ramesh Indira, known for directing Premier Padmini starring Jaggesh, was recently seen in the role of Soma in Hemanth M Rao's Sapta Sagaradaache Ello - his performance as the menacing prison inmate/thug impressed many. Dinakar Thoogudeepa, too, will be seen playing a key role in Kaiva and according to Jayathirtha Jayanna, he will be essaying the role of an important real-life figure in the film.

Kaiva, based on the teaser and other promotional material thus far, appears to be an interesting blend of action and romance that harks to the 1980s Bengaluru. The film is based on a real-life incident that occurred in the year 1983 and will also prominently feature the city's iconic Karaga festival.

Jayathirtha explained in a recent media interaction that he was inspired to make the film after a post-mortem expert at a mortuary recounted a brutal murder that took place in the 80s. That combined with another major real-life incident that occurred in 1983 formed the story of Kaiva, divulged the filmmaker at the said interaction.
