The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, Kalamkaval, have dropped a poster as its latest update today (August 17). In addition to hinting at its impending theatrical release soon, it depicts Mammootty's character in a menacing appearance.

According to reports, Mammootty's character, who can be seen in the poster, is based on Cyanide Mohan, a real-life serial killer. He wears the very same appearance that was shown in the photos taken on the location for the movie. Fans of the Malayalam superstar and moviegoers alike are even more excited for this thriller after seeing this poster. It was earlier confirmed that Mammootty is said to be playing a villain in Kalamkaval.

Kalamkaval theatrical release update

The other important character in Jithin K Jose-directed Kalamkaval is played by actor Vinayakan. According to recent sources, the movie may be released in October. The makers of the film has not, however, announced the film's official release date. The movie would be released after the Pooja holidays, which will be in the first week of October. So far, no other Malayalam films have been slated to release during the same time.

According to earlier rumours, the Bramayugam star is anticipated to complete the post-production activities shortly. The filmmaker claimed that while being a work of fiction, the makers of the movie drew inspiration from a number of real-life events. Jithin had previously written films like Kurup, which was based on the notorious account of the criminal on the run, Sukumara Kurup. Mammootty's son, Dulquer Salmaan, has a key role in Kurup, which is streaming on Netflix. Meanwhile, Jithin recently spoke with MosquitobatChannel and revealed that he initially asked Prithviraj to do Kalamkaval.

"We initially gave the script to Prithviraj. When the megastar finished his then-committed films, such as Kannur Squad, they decided to move on with the movie. "Prithviraj had been intrigued and in fact he recommended us to contact Mammootty," he recalled.
