Santosh Soban, the budding child actor who made a mark with Golconda High School in his early years, has transitioned well as a male lead in the recent times with films like Ek Mini Katha, Manchi Rojulochaie, to name a few. He teamed up with Tamil actress Priya Bhavani Shankar for a feel-good family drama, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam, this Sankranthi. Written and directed by Anil Kumar Aalla, the film, that released on January 14, is backed by UV Concepts, another division of the popular banner UV Creations.

The producers of Kalyanam Kamaneeyam took a gamble by releasing the film in a packed Sankranthi season but given they made table profits much before its release, the move isn’t expected to affect the team much. The film earned mixed reviews from critics upon its release. Noted Telugu OTT platform aha has acquired the post-theatrical rights of Kalyanam Kamaneeyam and the film may land on the platform in the early half of February.

The story of the drama revolves around two college sweethearts Shruthi(Priya Bhavani Shankar) and Siva(Santosh Soban). The former decides to get married to Siva, despite him not having a job. While their life after marriage appears smooth, Shruthi forces Siva to bag a job at the earliest. However, his attempts don’t bear fruit and works as a cab driver for a living. He however misleads Shruthi that he’s working as a software engineer. How does this lie change their marriage life?

Kedar Shankar, Devi Prasad and others too play key roles in the film. With cinematography by Karthik Gattamneni, the film has music by Shravan Bharadwaj and is edited by Satya G. Krishna Kanth is the sole lyricist for the album while Raveendar is the production designer.
