Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu’s ambitious home production Kannappa, in which he played the title role of the tribal warrior turned Shiva devotee, hit theatres on June 27, 2025. During the promotions of the film directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Vishnu had said that he would not let the film hit OTT until the 10-week mark from the date of theatrical release, even though the norm for most major platforms has been to put content out on or before the 30-day mark.

Despite Vishnu’s assertion, it was initially thought that Kannappa would drop on OTT on July 25, which was then realigned to mid-August, but there’s been no news of the film. According to the latest, though, it is said that the film will be available to stream after the 10-week mark after all, which falls on September 5. The buzz is that Amazon Prime Video has acquired the film’s rights and will have it on the platform on September 5, 2025. Official confirmation is expected shortly.

Kannappa, which also starred the likes of Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundhan, R Sarathkumar, Madhoo, among many others, was reportedly made at a whopping budget of Rs 200 crore, only a small fraction of which was recovered from the theatrical run.
