Kantara Chapter 1 fared better in Tamil, despite 3 new festive releases, with Hindi and Kannada still doing the heavy lifting.

The third weekend is when Kantara Chapter 1’s true test would unveil, amid a plethora of Deepavali festive film releases across languages. Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, all had major releases, but none of them received favourable reviews, which went a long way in ensuring that Kantara Chapter 1 could make the most of the extended holiday. Sunday recorded the best collection of the week, with a net total of Rs 17 crore. There was a dip on Monday, with collections falling to Rs 11.65 cr. Interestingly, though, on the 3rd Tuesday, October 21, the day that the horror comedy Thamma hit theatres, Kantara Chapter 1 was able to hold steady, registering Rs 11.95 cr net total and taking it to close to Rs 550 net all-India figures.
