Kantara: Netizens wonder why Yash has been silent about the success of Rishab Shetty’s film

Back in 2018, Rishab had tweeted his warm wishes to team KGF: Chapter 1, but Yash has not returned the favour

If the early part of the year was all about KGF: Chapter 2 and Rocky Bhai’s “hawa” everywhere, it is ending with another Kannada film that has literally taken the box office by storm. Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, a relatively smaller film from the same banner that made KGF 1 & 2, which explores a rooted story about the culture and traditions followed in coastal Karnataka, Kundapura, to be precise, is the talk of town and how. Social media is abuzz with glorifying posts about the “divine blockbuster”, which has become the highest grossing Kannada film in north India, among other distinctions.

It's box office records apart, the film is currently the highest rated Kannada movie on IMDB, trumping even KGF: Chapter 2 and has been universally loved. Several celebrities who have seen the film have taken to social media to sing praise of Rishab’s direction and action. While Prabhas, Dhanush and Prithviraj have already written about the film, back home, only Kiccha Sudeep has watched it and then shown his appreciation online.

This has got netizens wondering why there is radio silence from the other A-listers, Yash and Darshan, especially the former, hailed as the trendsetter who broke barriers for Kannada cinema. In 2018, ahead of the release of KGF: Chapter 1 and before Yash become the massive star that he is today, Rishab had tweeted his best wishes to the team. “My best wishes to the entire team of #KGF. A proud moment for all of us!! All the best @TheNameIsYash @prashanth_neel @Karthik1423 @VKiragandur @SrinidhiShetty7,” he had posted, along with an image of KGF1’s theatre list.

Kantara is Rishab’s first directorial since then, so netizens reckon that it is only fair that Yash returns the favour. Since Kantara released in theatres, Yash’s only tweet has been about the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s Gandhada Gudi trailer.
