Kartik Aaryan broke free of his comedy actor stereotype when he signed on a sports drama with Kabir Khan. The movie, titled Chandu Champion, released in theatres in 2024. Two years later, they have collaborated for a new sports drama, if a report on Variety is anything to go by. Here’s everything you need to know about it…

What is Kartik Aaryan’s role in Kabir Khan’s sports drama?

Kartik Aaryan underwent intense physical training for his new sports drama. While speaking about his role, a source stated, “He essays a coach who helps a young Kashmiri girl reach the championship from a conflict-affected region.” The young girl is none but India’s youngest kickboxing world champion, Tajamul Islam. Hailing from North Kashmir's Bandipora district, she was the first Kashmiri to win a sub-junior world championship at the mere age of 7.

Interestingly, Kartik has already shot portions of the movie and wrapped up first schedule in Kashmir. He will resume filming in March, after wrapping Naagzilla in Delhi. The Kabir Khan directorial will be shot in Srinagar and Pahalgam. It is expected to be wrapped by October 2026, post which the makers plan for mid-2027 theatrical release.
