Kartik Aaryan and Hansal Mehta had announced their next movie, Captain India, back in 2021. Since there was no movement on the project, it was assumed to be on the backburner. However, come 2026, the movie is back in news, this time with regards to when it will go on floors, among other updates. Here’s everything you need to know…

When is Captain India going on floors?

Captain India, announced in 2021, will be going on floors in 2026. It is likely to happen somewhere between the months of May and July, a source confirmed to Mid-Day stating, “The makers are eyeing the window between May and July for filming.”

Hansal Mehta out, is Shimit Amin still directing the project?

Hansal Mehta is no longer associated with the project, and Chak De India! director Shimit Amin had stepped in to replace him. Soon after, there was buzz that Shimit Amin is also not associated with the project. However, the little birdie has denied all such rumours by stating, “The delays caused these rumours. But the film is on track and Shimit is helming it. Kartik is shooting for another T-Series film, after which he will start this.”

What is the update on Kartik Aaryan-Sreeleela’s film?

Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela have resumed shooting for their Anurag Basu directorial in Srinagar. Images of an unruly looking Kartik from the sets have been going viral. The movie, which is tentatively titled Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, was previously shot in Gangtok. The film is touted to be a version of Aashiqui 3. Nonetheless, it is Kartik’s first-time collaboration with Sreeleela and fans have already started shipping the two before the film’s release. It was slated for May 2026 release, but the makers are yet to make any official announcement on the movie.
