Karuppu teaser out: Suriya plays a lawyer, and enthralls audience with charm, stunts and acting. The film is directed by RJ Balaji

The teaser of Karuppu is finally out! Starring Suriya in the lead role, the makers of the film released the teaser to celebrate the actor’s birthday on Wednesday. Karuppu is written and directed by RJ Balaji, an actor-turned-filmmaker.

After starring in Retro earlier this year, actor Suriya’s next film will be Karuppu. The actor who turned 50 on Wednesday, celebrated his birthday with the release of the teaser for Karuppu. Earlier in the day, a couple of posters featuring Suriya in the Karuppu avatar were released, which have sparked further excitement among fans.
The teaser begins with visuals of a local deity, and the festivities that take place. With Tamil Nadu known for many such deities, we see celebrations taking place in full vigour and fury as the voiceover says that the deity itself is aggressive. We then see Suriya being introduced as lawyer Saravanan, who says he has another name. There is a Ghajini reference, as one also gets reminded of Jai Bhim Suriya. We then see Suriya in a massy avatar, full of stunts and superhero abilities. Sai Abhyankkar gives a power-packed musical score for the teaser, which sets up more anticipation for the film.

From the teaser, we can see that the film will have elements of courtroom drama but majorly the story is also expected to take place outside the judicial halls. A release date is yet to be announced, although there are speculations that it will release for Diwali. The cast includes Trisha, Indrans, Natty, Swasika, Sshivadha, Anagha Maya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy and others.

Written and directed by RJ Balaji, Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, T S Gopi Krishnan, Karan Aravind Kumar, have worked as writers as well. The film is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, with GK Vishnu cranking the camera and R Kalaivanan as the editor. Sai Abhyankkar scores the music.
