Even amid injury concerns of its lead star, Antony Varghese Pepe, the makers of his upcoming film Kattalan have revealed the first look. Antony Varghese sports a determined look in the poster, even though the character appears to be wounded. The film is helmed by Paul George in his directorial debut.

The upcoming Malayalam film Kattalan stars Antony Varghese in the lead role. The first look was released on Pepe’s birthday on October 11, 2025. While revealing the first look of Kattalan - The Hunter, the makers promise to showcase Pepe in a never-seen-before avatar. They also wished Happy Birthday to the Champ!

The poster shows Pepe as wounded with blood trickling down his face, even as he smokes a cigarette. The actor has an arresting face as he looks pointedly at something. Kattalan reportedly revolves around ivory smuggling, and promises to be an action-packed thriller.

Ajaneesh Loknath has been roped in to compose the music for the film, which is backed by Marco producer Shareef Muhammed. But just an hour before the poster release, the makers put out a statement that since Ajaneesh is busy with his other projects, the theme music of Kattalan would not be included in the first look reveal. But they promised to incorporate it in the upcoming announcements. For the unversed, Ajaneesh Loknath is the composer for the Kannada film, Kantara: Chapter 1. Rishab Shetty’s film is enjoying a successful run at the cinemas currently.

Meanwhile, recent reports said that Antony was injured while shooting for an action sequence with an elephant. The incident happened in Thailand, where the shooting was happening. However, with the injury, the shooting has been stalled, and the next schedule has been postponed by 2 weeks, giving time for Pepe to fully recover. Another upcoming film of Pepe is I'm Game starring Dulquer Salmaan.
