Noted Malayalam director Ahammed Khabeer, who made a confident film debut with the coming-of-age tale of a young girl in June, chose to depict a police probe in his first series, Kerala Crime Files. Starring Aju Varghese and Lal, the first season of Kerala Crime Files, which released in 2023, dealt with the probe into the sex worker at a lodge. Ahammed Khabeer on Kerala Crime Files Season 2

The second season of Kerala Crime Files deals with another case, with a whole new set of actors joining the cast, but that is not the only difference between the two seasons. Even while dealing with a murder investigation in the first season, Kerala Crime Files - Shiju, Parayil Veedu Neendakara,  Ahammed Khabeer ensured that the cops stayed relatable, giving us a peek into their personal lives and concerns as well. In a recent chat with RJ Mathukkutty, Ahammed Khabeer said that the second season will not give such touching personal stories.

“There won't be anything like that in second season. Nothing about their personal side. It is purely about the case,” remarked Khabeer.

Kerala Crime Files Season 1’s relatable characters

Even when they are cops, the series ensured that viewers connected with them and resonated with their emotions. While depicting the daily grind of the cops as they painstakingly chase clue after clue only to meet a dead end, Ahammed Khabeer ensured that viewers also saw them as ordinary people.

Aju Varghese’s SI Manoj just wants to wrap up the case, so that he gets to spend some lovely time with his newly wedded wife. CPO Sunil (Navas Vallikkunnu) is constantly worried about his wife and is heartbroken when he has to go after the suspect just when he saw his newborn baby for the first time. Lal too adds a fatherly touch to CI Kurian Avaran, who wants all the publicity to impress his daughter. Sanju Sanichen plays the young and enthusiastic CPO Vinu, who is finally glad to have a job that could pay for the food he likes.
