The much-awaited second season of director Ahammed Khabeer’s Kerala Crime Files is all set to begin streaming in June. The sophomore season, which will see Aju Varghese, Lal, Navas Vallikunnu and Sanju Sanichen return in their police avatars along with a fresh set of cast members, will drop on JioHotstar.

The streaming platform had dropped the trailer of the upcoming season of the web series, which will focus on the search for CPO Ambili Raju in the final week of May.

When and where to watch Kerala Crime Files Season 2

OTTplay has exclusively learnt that the web series, which is expected to have 6-8 episodes, much like the first season, will begin streaming on June 20 on JioHotstar in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi.

The upcoming season will also have Arjun Radhakrishnan, who had played pivotal roles in Rocket Boys, Ullozhukku and Kannur Squad, essay the leading character of SI Noble. Indrans plays the role of the missing CPO Ambili Raju in the series, which also has Harishree Ashokan, Noorin Shereef, Shibla Fara and Jeo Baby in supporting roles.

The team is planning to have a special preview for people from the film industry and media on June 18 in Kochi. The second season’s screenplay is written by Bahul Ramesh, who had also penned Asif Ali’s critically acclaimed movie Kishkinda Kaandam.

JioHotstar leads Malayalam web series race

While several streaming platforms, including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, have been in discussions with Malayalam filmmakers for web series, JioHotstar has been producing more web series in the language than any other OTT platform.

Apart from Kerala Crime Files Season 2, other upcoming Malayalam original series from JioHotstar include Nivin Pauly’s Pharma and Jeethu Joseph’s Secret Stories: Roslin. The platform had earlier this year dropped Neeraj Madhav and Aju Varghese’s romcom Love Under Construction.
