Kiccha Sudeep begins work on his next, Billa Ranga Baashaa

The moment that Kiccha Sudeep fans have been eagerly waiting for is finally here. Almost a year after he wrapped up the shoot of his last release Max which came out for Christmas 2024, and more than 4 months since he promised to work on and have at least 2 releases in a year, Sudeep has kickstarted his next, Billa Ranga Baashaa.

Kiccha Sudeep's Billa Ranga Baashaa goes on floors

On April 16, Vikrant Rona maker Anup Bhandari and Sudeep took the film on floors, which they announced with a special poster that has fans and movie aficionados excited. It features Sudeep in a weather-worn avatar, snow and bits of ice caught on his facial hair, light bruising to his nose and cheek, with a fiery inferno reflected in the lenses of the goggles perched on his forehead. This is not a pretty world that he’s in, which should explain the film’s tagline – First Blood.

Billa Ranga Baashaa was meant to be Sudeep’s first collaboration with Anup, whose claim to fame is the sleeper-hit Rangitaranga. But the duo had put the plan on hold at the time, given the scale required for a project of this nature, which they felt required more time in preparation.

Instead, they did Vikrant Rona and then Sudeep moved on to Max, wile Anup worked on the pre-production aspects of Billa Ranga Baashaa, which also included getting a production partner on board to help mount the film on the scale it deserves. Sudeep’s Kiccha Creations will be associated with PrimeShow Entertainment, the makers of last year’s hit Telugu film, Hanu-Man .

Since Billa Ranga Baashaa is a film set 200 years in the future, it will be entirely shot in specially erected sets, for which the makers are said to have leased 4 acres in the outskirts of Bengaluru. Billa Ranga Baasha will be shot in both 2D and 3D format, and will have a multi-lingual release. The team has not revealed a time frame as to when to expect the film, but the best bet is that it will be in theatres in the summer of 2026.
