Vijay Deverakonda is back in the game, as his new film Kingdom has already crossed ₹70 crore at the box office. Going back in time, Vijay had signed a film with Sukumar of Pushpa fame, but that project never went on the floors.

During Kingdom’s promotional interactions, Vijay was asked about the Sukumar project. He revealed that on the second day of Kingdom’s release, director Sukumar praised his performance and expressed interest in working with him. When asked why the earlier film didn’t materialize, Vijay cited date issues and other complications that he could not disclose officially.

The project was suppsoed to go on floors in 2022 but as Sukumar decided to make Pushpa in two parts, the project was called off. Also, there is news that the producer backed out at the last minute leaving everyone in doldrums.

Vijay had been going through a rough phase for the last five years, and Kingdom needed to click at the box office. Though the action drama opened to mixed reviews, the collections have been impressive. This clearly shows that fans and audiences wanted Vijay to score a hit at any cost.

As the film enters the weekdays, it remains to be seen how much it collects. On the other hand, Vijay is very happy and is already busy with his new film, which is being directed by Rahul Sankrityan.

Although the film was shelved, Sukumar promised Vijay that he would definitely collaborate with him in the future. With the massive success of Pushpa, Sukumar is now considered an international director, so his praise for Vijay’s performance stands out as a major highlight in Vijay’s career.
