Kingdom part 2 called off

Vijay Deverakonda is going through a series of flops and had pinned all his hopes on Kingdom. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri of Jersey fame, the film had Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead. Though the songs were good and the promos created a sensation, the action drama did not meet expectations.

Yet another major issue was that the film was divided into two parts, and the second part was supposed to be released in early 2026. But we at OTTplay have come to know that the plans for the sequel have now been dropped by the makers.

Naga Vamsi, who has given back-to-back flops with Mass Jathara and Kingdom Part 1, has decided to stall the sequel as the first part ended as a cost failure for his banner.

Kingdom was made on a budget of a whopping Rs 130 crore, and not even half of that was recovered by the makers. That is also the main reason the sequel has been called off, and director Gowtam, who has already wrapped up a small film titled Magic, has been asked to concentrate on the musical drama.

Vijay Deverakonda spent a lot of time getting a new look for the film. He gave a stunning performance, but all that went in vain as Kingdom was trolled by critics and audiences alike.

Two hit songs that were released ahead of the film did not even feature in the final cut. Many more issues like this ended the film as a disappointment at the box office.

As of now, Vijay Deverakonda is shooting for his new film under the direction of Ravi Kiran Kola. Then he will also shoot for director Rahul Sankrityan of Shyam Singha Roy fame. These two films will hit the screens in 2026.

In the last few years, Vijay has only delivered flops, and his market has crashed considerably. He made headlines as he got engaged to the love of his life, Rashmika Mandanna, and is all set to get married in 2026. Apart from this, his biggest film, Kingdom, disappointed one and all; hence the sequel has now been called off.
